The grandious City of Split was founded by the Greek Colony around the 2nd or 3rd century BC and it flourished as settlement around the year 650 CE. This marvellous town has surely seen a lot through its history, such as the Ottoman empire, Napoleon the Hapsburg Monarchy, Austro-Hungary then annexed by Italy and reoccupied by Germany soon after to later be part of Croatia in Yugoslavia and after the collapse of Yugoslavia in 1991 to a city in today's modern Croatia:
